Creating Standards-Based Lesson Plans—Which Standards Should I Use?

Hi guys…

I work for a company that creates educational content and class activities, mainly in the field of social studies (history, philosophy, anthropology…), for middle and high school teachers across the US. I’m responsible for creating standards-based lesson plans, and I’m trying to figure out which standards to cite for each of my content pieces.

I’m aware of several options like Common Core, C3 Framework, and NCSS, but I’m finding it more complicated than I expected to determine which one to use. How do you all decide on the standards to align your lesson plans with? Should I be focusing on one particular set of standards, or should I be cross-referencing multiple ones?
