Hi guys,
I’ve been exploring various sources about these two concepts and want to make sure I understand operant conditioning correctly. Can I describe it as getting students to behave in the way the teacher wants? Is that accurate?
I’m also having trouble grasping classical conditioning. I haven’t found a source that explains it in straightforward terms. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Operant conditioning is more about encouraging certain behaviors through rewards and consequences, so yes, it’s about guiding behavior. Classical conditioning, on the other hand, is about associating a neutral stimulus with a response, like Pavlov’s dogs salivating at the sound of a bell because they learned to associate it with food.
The Classical and Operant Conditioning Quiz tests your knowledge of these two types of learning.
- Classical Conditioning: Learning through association, like Pavlov’s dogs.
- Operant Conditioning: Learning through rewards and punishments, like Skinner’s experiments.
The quiz has questions of varying difficulty and helps you understand these concepts better.
