I’m looking to create an online course and generate some passive income. While big companies like Udemy have many requirements and offer low profit margins, I’m not a famous influencer or tech space celebrity, just someone eager to share content. What platforms or strategies would you suggest for someone like me?
Becoming a tech influencer or tech space celebrity might be one way to gain traction, but relying solely on ‘build it and they will come’ might be too passive.

Simply hanging a shingle online and waiting for traffic isn’t effective. You need to actively promote your content.

I understand, it’s clear that I need to focus on both creating great content and actively engaging with potential learners.
@helon
I’m concerned that you might be using multiple accounts to post and reply to yourself, boosting traffic to specific sites.
The best affordable option I’ve found is hosting your course on your own server, either through shared or dedicated hosting. Establishing an audience and driving them to your site is challenging, which is probably why many choose platforms like Udemy despite the drawbacks.
Check out Learnie, a microlearning platform with a profit-sharing model for course creators. Here’s more information: https://mylearnie.com/learnie-pays-overview/
If your content is ready, any online course platform like TrainerCentral, Teachable, Kajabi, or Thinkific could work depending on your needs and budget. I use TrainerCentral, which is affordable and offers excellent support. For comparisons, check their article here: https://www.trainercentral.com/best-online-course-platforms.html
Consider Invoclass, which is user-friendly and lets you keep more of your earnings. They offer effective marketing tools to help promote your course, and you have full control over pricing and content. The community and support are also strong. Worth checking out!

Invoclass sounds promising. Can you share more about how it compares to platforms like Udemy, particularly in terms of user experience and costs?
