What's wrong with charter schools?

I attended my town’s public school and found it to be a wonderful experience. Previously, I held reservations about the Charter School or School Choice movement diverting public resources from traditional public schools and potentially harming the educational system overall. However, beyond my personal school experience and some articles I’ve read, I lack specific evidence or expertise on this issue.

As educators, do you believe Charter Schools enhance the education system overall? Do they drain resources from Public Schools? What is your stance on school choice?

Nothing in dispute, the issue is that charter schools may undermine traditional public schools by attracting high-achieving students, thereby potentially impeding the improvement of public schools.

It’s the only way my children can receive a top-notch education. We don’t have enough money for private education, and our local schools were appalling. Even though we’ve subsequently moved to a nicer community, our charter school consistently outperforms the local institution.

We have one of the greatest schools in the country.
