Physical therapy?
This study is the final word on degree value at this time. Here are the main takeaways:
- bachelor degrees are the most valuable, with master degrees being less valuable, and doctorals being less valuable than that.
- MOST master’s degrees have a negative ROI.
- the most lucrative fields are accounting, medicine (doctor or nurse), lawyer, engineer (but only at the bachelor level).
- specifically avoid teaching, MBA’s, psychology, and general humanities (a specific humanities concentration will always outperform them on the job market).
So based on what you said, I would advise you go nursing.

What about data/statistics or something else in the healthcare field?
That is also probably very lucrative. Even basic data entry in healthcare pays through the nose
My daughter has a kinesiology degree and got a masters in exercise physiology once she came to the conclusion you have come to. She loves the field, but unfortunately not much money in it because many of the things she did were not covered by insurance (yet). She is a stay at home Mom now and does personal training on the side. When she was working, she liked doing cardiac rehab work, and also worked for a place for a few years that helped people that were paralyzed with some experimental treatments that they were seeing real progress with. She would have kept doing that but the wear and tear on her body having to lift and move the patients was pretty heavy.
If you want to make a lot of money, the quickest path is nursing. The PT route is long and expensive and similar to being a PA or MD, so I think you have lots of options there that are all long and expensive.

You suggest nursing over physiology for example?
Nursing is established and in high demand with big salaries. Physiology is not. I’m no expert but just an observation.
The best master’s degree is the one each person had thought hard about investing in before they spent their time and money. A masters in archeology is great if your BS is in archeology, but not worth much if you are seeking a job in Psychology.
