What advice do you guys have for an educator?

Hello! I’m a 22-year-old Gen Z guy from Virginia :star2:, about to complete an M.Ed. in Elementary Education K-6 :mortar_board: this July. I’ve done three practicum experiences in elementary classrooms :school: and will soon need to do student teaching or an internship. I also have a BA in History :books: and an AA in Liberal Arts. I’ve been substitute teaching for two years and have applied to over 150 positions :memo:, attended 16 interviews :speaking_head:, and received three job offers (one of which I accepted for daily substitute teaching at a middle school).

I’m feeling anxious :worried: after learning that teachers can be non-renewed for any reason, even if they perform well. What advice or tips do you have for me as a young educator? Additionally, what other career options are available with my qualifications in history and education? Also, what steps would I need to take to become an administrator within a school district in the future? Lastly, is joining a teaching union truly beneficial?

Make a thoughtful choice for your district. perhaps even make a sensible state choice at this time.
Raise no hell while you’re just starting off. They’ll have a reason to break up with you.
Despite all the craziness going on, I stay in my union even if I’m not always a fan because I know that if something goes wrong, they will support me.
Most essential, please refrain from asking any questions at the conclusion of a staff meeting. Send an email with seriousness.

Hello Anne,
Being an educator is rewarding but challenging. Build strong student relationships, understand their needs, and be approachable. Use diverse teaching methods, incorporate technology, and encourage critical thinking. Seek feedback, stay updated, and practice self-care for a balanced life.

Remember that you are a person with a life in addition to being a teacher, so do not allow work take priority over your personal life Do not let work consume your life, and schedule activities outside of the classroom. Over time, you will become a more content and balanced instructor by taking care of your personal life, that is the advise that i would have for an educator.
