Hello! I’m a 22-year-old Gen Z guy from Virginia , about to complete an M.Ed. in Elementary Education K-6 this July. I’ve done three practicum experiences in elementary classrooms and will soon need to do student teaching or an internship. I also have a BA in History and an AA in Liberal Arts. I’ve been substitute teaching for two years and have applied to over 150 positions , attended 16 interviews , and received three job offers (one of which I accepted for daily substitute teaching at a middle school).
I’m feeling anxious after learning that teachers can be non-renewed for any reason, even if they perform well. What advice or tips do you have for me as a young educator? Additionally, what other career options are available with my qualifications in history and education? Also, what steps would I need to take to become an administrator within a school district in the future? Lastly, is joining a teaching union truly beneficial?
