To graduate from high school, you typically need a GPA of 2.0. However, many colleges and some trade schools prefer students with a GPA of 3.0 or higher (a B average) for admission.
It also depends on your stateβs standards. For example, in my state, students need to pass state exams in science, math, and English to demonstrate proficiency equivalent to the tenth grade, in addition to earning a set number of credits and finishing specific classes. Graduation might also be impacted by concerns with attendance.
You usually need at least a 2.0 GPA, but aiming higher is always better.
