Is there any way to start self-education from scratch?

I’ve been chronically ill since I was 10 years old and haven’t been to school since year 5, I’ve had a few tutors here and there and participated in online classes but they’re all so flaky. But now I’m getting older I need to seriously knuckle down otherwise I’ll end up in a mess, does anyone have any resources that I might be able to use? I’m willing to spend money on subscriptions to resources because I really need it

This!

Your writing skill doesn’t indicate issues with your education.

As I’ve said, I left in year five and had tutors and online schooling, I also enjoyed reading from a young age due to so much free time in hospitals. If you see my handwriting or my attempts to solve math equations you’d think differently :sob:

Plus, what does that have to do with my post? /Gen

You don’t mention how old you are now… Assuming you’re high-school age:

Sophia Learning has self-paced classes that can earn you college credit, depending on where you want to transfer them to.

Since you’ve had tutors and such, it might be a good fit. It’s a monthly subscription, so you could just purchase one month first to see if you like it (there are a lot of codes for $20 off the first month, too). You can also preview classes with a free “trial” for courses to see what they’re like.

You could also check Modern States for free CLEP prep and free vouchers for the actual exams.

@Lucky
Sorry yes! I’m 15, thank you so much for the recommendations

Khan Academy has great, free online curriculum for anything.

Do you have a GED? If not, then see what resources your county or state has that can get you one.

When you’re looking more into things that do require human feedback like learning to write/argue well, advanced math, or critical thinking, I’d suggest starting with a community college near you.

Are you in the US? You or a guardian needs to contact your local
School
District and get arrangements for schooling to fit your circumstances- that could be online schooling or a homebound teacher that comes to you or a combination. I have a relative that because of various issues has not been in a school
Building since kindergarten- she gets homebound instruction 3 days a week

I’m in the UK unfortunately, am I able to do that here?

I do not know- do you have social workers in the hospital- ask them.

MIT edx, YouTube.com/education, PDF books

For your math lessons I can be of great help. Here is my link

Do you have any special skills? Sammy Davis Jr. NEVER went to school. He became a millionaire because he was mentored by his family in vaudeville. What’s the point now of obtaining a general education? Prostitute Your Skill-Set. Be marketable in the current economy. I’m a former teacher. I have numerous credentials and certificates. At the end of the day, it’s TALENT that is important. Good luck. Work Hard.

Really? What would you suggest they do? It’s easy to make a negative hateful comment without making a positive suggestion. Go ahead. What’s your point? Mine is: if you have talent, it will shine through. People will recognize it. Most jobs, you can learn via on the job training. Apply yourself.
