I will be homeschooling a 3rd grader out of necessity this year. I am looking for quality resources and guidance. Any recommendations?

In short, my family will be moving several times before 2023 and won’t be enrolling my 8-year-old in school until we’re settled. We’re concerned about the safety and quality of education in the initial district we’re heading to.

We’ve tried connecting with local homeschool groups, but they haven’t aligned with our goal of providing an engaging, challenging, high-quality, fact-based education. We aim to prepare our child to return to school while nurturing a love of learning. We don’t want religion in the curriculum and don’t view public education negatively, which seems to make us outliers.

Our child has excelled in the gifted program, and we want to keep her on that track. Our main challenges are finding reliable information on what she should be learning to stay up to speed and affordable, high-quality resources like apps, websites, worksheets, workbooks, and textbooks.

Any guidance or resources would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi there,

For your situation, I recommend these resources:

  1. Khan Academy: Free, high-quality, and covers various subjects.
  2. IXL: Comprehensive, engaging, and aligns with school curriculums.
  3. Prodigy: Fun math practice.
  4. BrainPOP: Engaging educational videos.
  5. Outschool: Affordable, live online classes on diverse subjects.v

i recommend Outschool its Affordable online classes.

Consider online resources and curriculum guides for gifted students. Explore apps, websites, and educational materials to keep her engaged and on track.
