Hi everyone, I’m a long-term substitute teacher for a middle school Extensive Needs class. The class doesn’t have a permanent teacher, and it looks like it might not all year, so I’m starting from scratch.
I want to create a set of slides that I can use every day, which are interactive. My idea is for students to use a large touchscreen computer to move images around to answer questions. For example, on a calendar slide, I want them to drag and drop the correct month, day, date, year, weather, season, etc., into the right spots.
My challenge is figuring out how to set this up so the slides reset themselves each day. I don’t want to have to make a new set of slides every day or manually reset everything.
I’m working with Kami and Google Slides. Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated.
Long-term sub" and “may not all year” makes it seem like they’re getting away with not giving you any benefits
In Google Slides, similar to PowerPoint, you can use links. Create text boxes with the prompts you want, and when students click on them, the links can take them to another slide with the information you want to present. You might also want to add a “back” arrow that links back to the main slide.
They offered me the job permanently, but I asked them to keep the posting open in case the right candidate comes along. I’m not sure if I want to pursue certification for this position, and I prefer the flexibility of subbing since my kids are still young.
I know you said you don’t want to create new slides every day, but one option could be using the “copy” URL. Just change “edit” to “copy” in the link. This would create a new set of slides each day with minimal effort, though they would keep appearing in your Drive.
If you know some basic JavaScript, you could use Google Apps Script to reset the slides to an earlier version at a specific time each day. I’m not aware of any add-ons that can do this.
You shld try out ClassroomScreen I think it might do exactly what you need & possibly even more. It offers screens you can preset and includes multiple widgets like timers, randomizers, and non-verbal cue words. You can also add a whiteboard or presentation within the screen.
I don’t work for them, but I think it’s a great tool, and we use it in our district.
