How to Calculate Praxis Score Results

Hey everyone,

I just took the Praxis exam, but I’m a little lost on how the scoring works. I finished the test, but they didn’t give me a straight-up percentage or anything. I’ve been searching online, but all I can find is info about a “scaled score” and “raw score.” Does anyone know how to calculate my Praxis score from these? Is there a formula or something I need to use?

To calculate Praxis score results, the raw score (number of correct answers) is converted to a scaled score through statistical equating to account for varying difficulty levels across different test forms. The scaled score usually ranges from 100 to 200, and your score report will show both the raw and scaled scores along with passing status based on state requirements.

The Praxis exams consist of both selected-response (SR) and constructed-response (CR) questions. To calculate your score, follow these strategies:

Selected-Response (SR) Questions
Each correctly answered SR question is worth one raw point. Your total raw score is the sum of the SR questions you answered correctly on the entire test. SR questions are scored by computer.

Constructed-Response (CR) Questions
CR questions are scored by education professionals in the relevant content area. Two scorers independently rate your responses to CR questions. If their ratings differ significantly, a third scorer evaluates your response. Your total score does not depend solely on one individual scorer.

Mixed-Format Tests
Some Praxis tests include both SR and CR items. Ratings from scorers are either added together or multiplied by scoring weights (which can vary). The raw point score is then converted to a scaled score, adjusting for the difficulty of that specific test edition.

Conversion to Scaled Scores
ETS develops multiple editions of the same test, each with different sets of questions. Your raw score is converted to a scaled score based on the test’s difficulty.

To calculate your Praxis score:

  1. Count correct answers per exam section for your raw score.
  2. Use ETS’s conversion table to get a scaled score, adjusting for exam difficulty.
  3. Compare your scaled score to the passing score required by your state or institution.

Access ETS’s scoring guidelines and tables on their website or contact customer service for details.

In most Praxis® exams, each right answer on a multiple-choice question gets you 1 point. A computer grades these questions, and your total score is how many questions you got right.
