Last year was tough for me as I faced a severe bout of depression. I’m on medication now but the challenges continue. I missed a lot of school due to a police investigation, was unfairly suspended, and even received harmful advice from school staff. I also spent some time in a psychiatric facility and mourned the loss of two friends. Despite these hardships, I managed grades with 2 A’s and 4 B’s, and I’m now homeschooled. My question is, will my middle school experience impact my college prospects or job opportunities in the future
Middle school grades don’t play a huge role, but your performance in high school is crucial for college admissions.

That’s good to know. I’m focusing more on my studies now to prepare for high school.
Focus on your mental health first. Middle school grades aren’t critical, but if anyone told you to harm yourself, that’s serious and should be addressed. I hope you’re getting the support you need.

Balancing school and mental health is tough. An adult did suggest harmful actions over the phone, which was inappropriate. I was in therapy and now I’m on medication to help manage.
Middle school grades themselves don’t matter much, but the skills and habits you develop do. If there are gaps, they might put you at a disadvantage later on.

Exactly, it’s about figuring out how you learn best. Hopefully, by high school, you’ll have your strategies down, especially as some middle school courses might count towards high school credits.
Middle school is a small part of your educational journey. What’s important is how you handle and grow from your experiences, even through high school and college.
It depends on your school district’s model. In some places, middle school grades might affect which high school you attend, impacting your college admission chances due to the resources available at different schools.
They sort of matter if you’re aiming for a prestigious high school, which often requires good middle school grades.
It’s less about the grades and more about learning the material and skills you’ll need later on.
Middle school grades aren’t something that people focus on later in life.
Middle school grades themselves aren’t crucial, but being behind can mean you’ll need to work harder to catch up.

Absolutely, falling behind means you’ll need extra help and more effort to succeed later on.
@SophiaMartinez
I found out I’m two years behind in math, but I’m currently doing grade-level work and managing well.
Any challenges in middle school can be overcome with strong performance in high school.
Middle school is just preparation for the critical years of high school. Focus on getting through your challenges and taking care of yourself.
Middle school grades don’t define your entire academic path. My brother had average grades but excelled later and achieved a doctorate. Prioritize your wellbeing.
No, they don’t matter much in the long term.
Ultimately, only your final academic achievements will truly matter.
