How can I prepare my child for success despite the limited quality options available in public education?

Hi guys,

I have some time before my boys start school, and I want to set them up for success as best as I can. Unfortunately, our city’s education system isn’t the greatest. The few public schools that are ranked higher have an overwhelming number of applicants, including those from other districts.

I’m uncertain if we’ll be able to move or afford private education by the time they start school. Private schools, while offering some benefits, can create a skewed sense of reality in terms of finances and demographics, and they are very expensive. Additionally, I’m concerned about exposing my children to a religious curriculum and potential indoctrination before they are old enough to make their own decisions.

I aim to teach them as much as I can at home on a variety of subjects, but I need some ideas on how to help them if we can’t get them into better schools. My wife and I have faced some challenges and are already living in our house longer than we initially planned. I want the best for my kids, but moving to a better district may not be feasible due to higher property values.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
