If you had a magic wand and could create a tool to give you more time to focus on what’s important in the classroom, what would that tool be or what problem would it solve?
I would create a tool that exposes predatory tech vendors. It would reveal how gimmicky their products are and how little they actually help with learning or student well-being. It would also prevent these vendors from taking principals and superintendents out to expensive dinners, which often leads to schools signing contracts for overpriced, useless software.

This answer is amazing! Teachers would save so much time and frustration if they didn’t have to deal with unnecessary tech that shouldn’t have been brought into the classroom in the first place.
If I had a magic wand, I wouldn’t need a tool. I’d just use the magic!
My tool would handle discipline for me. With a wave of the wand, parents get their phone call, admin gets the referral, and as a bonus, the student loses the ability to talk for 30 minutes, so I don’t have to hear them try to argue their way out of trouble.
It would be a tool that teaches kids self-regulation and independence. It would also teach them good values. Nowadays, kids are too reliant on help, and parents aren’t stepping in to teach these things.
I’d create an IEP tracking software that is both easy to use and reliable. Right now, I spend way too much time on IEP paperwork and data entry. I can either be a good teacher and help my students make progress or I can spend hours dealing with this clunky system that should be much simpler to use.

My wife works in special education and complains about this all the time. Could you share more details via PM? I’d love to discuss this further.
I’d wave the wand so that parents would be able to parent and actually want to.
