Failed maths... what do I do next?

I can’t believe it, I’ve never failed maths in 11 years of school, but now I have. I studied so hard, and now I feel lost. I’ve got 5 months to improve before my final results. Any tips or advice would help a lot. Please, I need help!

Don’t stress, you still have 5 months. Everyone struggles with extended maths at first, but if you keep practicing, you’ll get there.

I hope so, I really appreciate the support! :slight_smile:

Bro, I’ve failed maths so many times and ended up taking core maths :sweat_smile:. Anyway, I always see my friends who take extended maths doing past papers non-stop. Try that! While I’m talking, they’re just busy solving those papers. :joy:

@Leeland
:joy::joy::joy: Thanks for the tip, I’ll definitely give past papers a try!

@Leeland
I’ll start practicing more and see how it goes! Appreciate the advice :slight_smile:

I had to retake, so don’t worry too much. Retakes are always an option, but I would recommend focusing on solving past papers now.

Thanks for the encouragement! I’ll definitely focus on past papers.

You should watch this guy on YouTube, the ginger mathematician. He’s really good at explaining things.

First thing is don’t get overconfident. Just because you’ve never failed doesn’t mean you can skip solving problems.

Totally get that. Thanks for the advice!

Next year, no calculators allowed. You’re in for a rough ride.

I’m taking my exams in Feb/March, which is the first set without calculators. Honestly, the specimen papers for no calculator are actually easier than the calculator papers. Just make sure you can handle stuff like cube rooting using prime factors.

Are you doing extended or core?

I’m doing extended.

You’ve been doing maths for 11 years? Wow. Anyway, just focus on past papers, check your mistakes, and if it’s something you don’t understand, look it up or watch ginger mathematician on YouTube. You’ve got 5 months, that’s more than enough time to turn things around!

@Mark
Thanks a lot! That really helps me feel more confident :slight_smile:

Practice a lot and review your mistakes. Make a folder of your problem areas and solve them again at the end of each month. Make sure to read the textbook too and take notes.

That sounds like a great idea, I’ll definitely try it! Thanks for the suggestion.

Don’t just practice randomly, collect your mistakes and focus on them at the end of the month. Make sure to read through the book and take notes as well.
