Cengage has to be the worst school website ever. 
It allows professors to avoid teaching by letting the website do it for them. You read a chapter for an hour or two 
, then get a 15-question quiz that you have to complete in 7 minutes. 
Then my class has a proctored exam after the MindTap one! Sometimes, there are no answers available, and the quiz questions are barely connected to the chapter. 
The proctored portion asks unrelated questions. If anyone can help me with MindTap, I would appreciate it!

In my class, we use something similar to cengage/MML. No boring lectures from the professor. Such a joke. It’s actually a 5 credit class too.

Nothing more to offer, but I agree that I could just pay Cengage for the course and forego a whole $4k my professor receives each semester in exchange for doing nothing at all.

What do you mean by the statement that the guys do nothing? They actually do something because they send announcements about making sure you get your assignments done and tell you not to wait till the night they are due to do them.
Then wait two days till the exam is due to unlock the exam and not tell anyone.
Am just wondering if the guys did proctor your exams to make you as bitter as you are.
It is actually normal to be frustrated with Cengage and MindTap. 
It is tough when the tools meant to help you learn to end up causing more stress.
