I’m a CIS-Cybersec major. Contemplating purchasing a 24-month subscription to Cengage. Does anyone else in Zicklin know if the bookstore has business course textbooks for the upcoming two years?
hi sis, look into this,What is the usual price of a single Cengage textbook for your courses? Do you prefer eTextbooks or physical textbooks? (Cengage Unlimited provides access to ebooks.)
First-year students are like: “I already have my textbooks.” What’s my timetable again, fifth year? …I don’t need books, shhh.
But seriously, I’d hold off and ask your lecturer. The majority of upperclassmen do this same thing each year. I recently commented on getting the most out of your money here (see my past).
If I had to guess, this might be an online resource you use for homework or something similar, but once more, before you fling money at books or access codes, please, please, ask your professor.
I’ve already obtained my books through dubious methods, so I’m hesitant to purchase the subscription. Still, I appreciate the advice.
Because three of my classes used Cengage, I only received one semester, and I ended up having no second semester. I wouldn’t since you never know when or what teacher would require Cengage—teacher requirements vary greatly. Additionally, hold off until you understand more, as many professors almost never use their textbooks. Because even though it says “required,” it’s only a suggestion. They also do a decent job of allowing you enough time to pick up your textbooks.
Since Gen Chem 2 also uses Owl, I’m not sure if you should get the two-year subscription or not, but if you have CHMG141, I’d think the one-year subscription would be worthwhile.
I’m sorry, but I don’t know anything about BME classes, therefore I can’t respond to your question about two years. However, I would advise you to hold off on purchasing the subscription for a little while and try contacting BME to see what they have to say.
Since you’ll be taking CHMG 141 and 142, I would recommend getting at least a year. There will only be one fee if you choose the unlimited plan and other classes require you to use Cengage. It’s difficult to forecast because general chemistry just moved from Pearson to Cengage last year, so I’m not sure if BMEs will use Cengage in their second year (my BME roommates don’t seem to recall ever using it). Some instructors may publish a list of courses that utilise Cengage frequently on mycourses, I believe.
Hello, BME! For my first-year classes, I have solely had online homework (so far). Additionally, it was essentially limited to the first semester of online chem and the second semester of UPI. I wouldn’t buy it because it appears that professors typically alter the way they assign homework every year. If you have any questions about BME, DM us. I’d be glad to assist in any manner that I can.
Where did you find $120 per quarter? The cheapest option I found is $88 for 6 months, which covers two quarters (though it might be tight towards the end). There’s usually a two-week trial period that should help. For French, you don’t necessarily need unlimited access, just the Atelier platform.
