I know UoP gets a lot of heat for being a for-profit school and some of the scandals around it. But, has anyone on this forum actually gone there? Was it worth the money? Did putting it on your resume cause any issues when applying for jobs? Also, how do you think employers see this school?
About 20 years ago, schools like U Phoenix were leading online education. But now there are way better and cheaper options at public or non-profit colleges. Honestly, there’s no real reason to choose Phoenix in 2024 when other schools offer online programs too.
@Logan
Could you list some of the cheaper schools? Sorry for asking, but I need help and would appreciate it if you could give me some suggestions.
They’re accredited now, which wasn’t always the case, and it used to be a big issue. I took a few classes there that I transferred to another school, and it worked fine. I also know people who got their Master’s there, especially in education. It is pricey though, but they didn’t seem to have any problems with it.
For-profit schools like Phoenix have been known to take advantage of vulnerable groups. They often target veterans because they’re guaranteed funding. The convenience and things like giving credit for past learning can end up costing way more than what you’d pay at a public university. You might want to check out options like Purdue Global or University of Maryland Global Campus instead.
I’m serious—I loved it. It got me into a master’s program and I was way more prepared than people from other universities. The instructors are real professionals in their fields. Yeah, it’s expensive, but it was the best education I’ve ever received. I’ve been in my job for 25 years now.
