According to an instructor, a website ending in ".org" indicates that the source is trustworthy. Is this kind of irresponsibility uncommon?

Hello everyone

The middle school student of my relative states that “a website that ends with “.org” means the source is reliable” because that’s what her teacher informed her. She took it seriously and saw that the website ended in “.org” as a trustworthy source.

If this is the case, the teacher truly lacks common sense, and it is harmful to make statements of this nature to children. In actuality, anyone can get a “.org” domain for less than ten dollars.
I want to know if this teacher is an anomaly in the US educational system. Should this teacher be assigned to a plan for improvement?
